The Social Ministry Committee extends Christian compassion and help to those in need through a variety of projects. In doing so, it successfully involves individuals and groups in the congregation throughout the year.

At Trinity, the Social Ministry Committee actively supports numerous organizations and causes within . . .

The Local Community - Food Pantry and New Hope Ministries

  • Soup’er Bowl Sunday, a January contest that pits Team Chicken Noodle against Team Tomato.
  • Harvest Home, a service in the fall at which non-perishables are received from the members of the congregation in thanks for the food they have.
  • Holiday food baskets, which contain items gathered so that New Hope Ministries clients can prepare their own holiday meal.
  • Food collection, during which members of the congregation gather food donations given the congregation each week, deliver them to food-assistance organizations, and help to bag items for the needy. Many Trinity members assist monthly with food distribution at the Food Pantry in Harrisburg.

  • Blanket program, in which congregation members make and donate blankets to Lutheran World Relief on InGathering Sunday.
  • Quilt Squares, in which congregation members buy quilt squares in honor of or in memory of loved ones; the funds are used to purchase blankets for InGathering Sunday.
  • School-kit preparation, in which members prepare school kits to support disadvantaged children in obtaining an education.
